This dataset delineates the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) Convention Area, representing the regulatory boundary established under the Convention on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (2000). The WCPFC is a Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (RFMO) responsible for the conservation and sustainable management of highly migratory fish stocks, including tuna and tuna-like species. The Convention Area extends across the western and central Pacific Ocean, encompassing the exclusive economic zones of Pacific Island Countries and Territories and adjacent high seas areas. This spatial data supports fisheries monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) activities coordinated through the Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) and Pacific Community (SPC).
