Sealord ordered to forfeit $24 million vessel for bottom trawling in protected area

Sealord has today been ordered to forfeit a $24 million fishing vessel for bottom trawling in a protected area. The company was also ordered to pay a $24,000 fine in Nelson District Court for trawling in a Benthic Protected Area.

A Rotorua iwi will lead a mission to restore a wetland and tackle pests - the first project in the government's scheme to create nature-based jobs to help with Covid-19 recovery...Te Arawa Lakes Trust has received $2.5 million in funding to support the creation of 40 jobs.
