PNG Joins World in bid to End Logging
November 5, 2021

Papua New Guinea has joined 124 other world countries, among them China and United States of America, who signed an agreement to ban logging entirely by 2030 at the Conference of the Parties (UNFCCC COP26) in Glasgow.

The people of West Coast Santo have rallied against a proposal by a Chinese-owned logging company on their land. Director of Forestry Department, Rexon Vira, explained a Chinese company, Vanuatu Forestry Product Limited, is interested in clearing forests and making wood chips.
