This dataset delineates the North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC) Convention Area, representing the regulatory boundary established under the Convention on the Conservation and Management of High Seas Fisheries Resources in the North Pacific Ocean (2012). The NPFC is a Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (RFMO) responsible for the conservation and sustainable management of fisheries resources in the high seas areas of the North Pacific Ocean, excluding areas already covered by other RFMOs. The Convention Area lies north of the WCPFC boundary and covers high seas fisheries for species including Pacific saury, Japanese flying squid, and various groundfish species. This spatial data supports fisheries monitoring and regional coordination with Pacific Island fisheries management activities.
