This dataset delineates the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) Convention Area, representing the regulatory boundary established under the Antigua Convention (2003). The IATTC is a Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (RFMO) responsible for the conservation and management of tuna and other marine resources in the eastern Pacific Ocean. This dataset includes the IATTC-WCPFC overlap area where both commissions share management responsibilities. The boundary data supports regional fisheries monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) activities and was created by the SPC GEM team as requested by the FFA VMS team to support Pacific Island fisheries management operations. These Regional Fisheries Management Organisations operate under the framework of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) Part VII (High Seas) and the UN Fish Stocks Agreement (UNFSA) 1995, which mandate international cooperation for the conservation and management of straddling and highly migratory fish stocks.
