Earlier this month, a group of young Cook Islanders embarked on an unforgettable journey as part of the Moananuiākea Hawaii Cultural and Conservation Youth Exchange Program, held in Hilo, Hawaii. The exchange proved to be an inspiring and life-changing experience, offering youths an incredible opportunity to strengthen their cultural identity while learning alongside indigenous communities of the Pacific.

Nicolea Mateariki, one of the leaders in the group, says that to make this journey possible, the Atui’anga Ki te Tango (AKTT) program held a successful fundraiser at the AROA Nui Hall. The event brought together families, supporters, and community members to help raise funds for twelve students to attend the exchange.
